Welcome to Planetary Science @CERENA
Planetary Science @CERENA is a platform where a group of researchers from CERENA, a centre from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon, involved in scientific research within the field of Planetary Sciences offers a view into its activities and results.
The main current activities are related to the development of image analysis and pattern recognition methods for the identification of planetary structures, their characterization and mapping, mainly on Mars, Earth, Moon, Venus and Mercury.
The use of terrestrial analogues for better understanding of the processes involved in the formation and evolution of some features is also a dynamic area in rapid expansion within the activities developed by the members of this group. The use of terrestrial analogues for searching for mineral resources (planetary mineral exploration) is one of the most recent focus of interest.
